Agroecology for More Food Security in Burundi

Modell farmer Jaqueline Nduyamungu from Mwumba, Ngozi Province, promotes her fields with the Push-Pull agro-ecology method.

The promotion and dissemination of agro-ecological methods improves and strengthens the food security of the population in Burundi. The dissemination is done by model farmers who train their neighbours and other community members in Push Pull and other agro-ecological methods. Furthermore, the availability of local seeds enables smallholder farming families to grow vegetables, which provides the families with a balanced diet and facilitates access to markets.
