Bees for Young Entrepreneurs

This project promotes beekeeping among youth. Through training in the production and processing of honey, they improve their income and promote biodiversity. In this way, young people in particular are offered an opportunity to reduce unemployment and the need to emigrate.

In order to reduce youth unemployment and rural depopulation, Biovision is working with our partner icipe and committed young people to establish start-up companies in rural Ethiopia for the manufacture of high-quality honey and beeswax. This not only improves incomes but also promotes plant diversity and improves crop pollination locally.

A plus in biodiversity and income thanks to bees

Bees pollinate up to 80% of all plants and so are amongst the most important working animals in agriculture. In addition, bees produce honey, a healthy food that improves the diet of smallholders and their families in sub-Saharan Africa and increases incomes.
