Impact to Date: Supporting Farmers and SMEs
Our partner organizations have trained the owners and employees of 15 SMEs, helping them create business plans and improve their product standards regarding quality and hygiene. The project supports these SMEs in processing and developing organic products, designing marketing strategies, and implementing them on social media. Improved branding, packaging, and distribution are also key elements to ensure sustainable growth.
Additionally, Biovision, in collaboration with project partner Sustainable Agriculture Tanzania (SAT), continues work started in 2011 with farmers. These farmers use agroecological cultivation methods and are certified under the "East African Organic Product Standard (EAOPS)." They supply organic products for the local market.
The goal: At least 300 certified organic farmers will be connected with companies focusing on organic products thanks to the project. SAT also plans to train approximately 150 new farmers to meet the EAOPS certification standard. The range of products includes legumes, nuts, vegetables, fruits, honey, spices, and even seaweed.
