Biovision contributed to a in-person training workshop organized by the Agri-PDB Platform for representatives of six Public Development Banks (PDBs), focusing on financing the agroecological transition. The workshop highlighted the unique role of Public Development Banks in mobilizing finance for agroecological enterprises and addressing climate, biodiversity, and social inclusion objectives. By strengthening participants’ practical skills and introducing actionable assessment tools, the training aimed to support the integration of agroecology into green finance portfolios. Biovision provided an in-depth training on the Business Agroecology Criteria Tool (B-ACT). Through presentations, hands-on exercises, and field-based simulations, participants learned and experienced how B-ACT can support project appraisal and decision-making for sustainable finance.

Public Development Banks (PDBs) have a unique role to play in advancing the agroecological transition. With mandates to implement public policies and address market gaps, they are well positioned to channel financing where it is most needed. Many are already developing dedicated credit lines and funds for sustainable and climate finance.

The impact of the training was tangible. As one participant put it: “We leave this training equipped with the practical tools we can directly apply to strengthen our green finance portfolio.”

Supporting agroecological enterprises offers a powerful opportunity to simultaneously address climate, biodiversity, and social inclusion goals.
