Raising awareness in local communities

In this project, Biovision is working with icipe, the International Centre for Insect Physiology and Ecology in Kenya and with local communities to develop a system that monitors the health of the environment. The project identifies key organisms that act as biological indicators for water quality. This in turn provides evidence of the health of the environment. The active involvement of local communities raises awareness of environmental interactions and helps them understand the link between clean water and farming. The local population gains an appreciation of the need to protect and conserve the environment.
