"We need a quick and holistic transformation of our food system"
Hans Herren made this clear statement at the Nestlé conference „Planting the Seeds for the Future II“. The conference at Nestlé’s headquarters in Vevey, Switzerland, discussed the topics agriculture, nutrition and sustainability.
Also present was the Global Alliance for the Future of Food, for which Biovision conducts the project “Beacons of Hope”.
Together with Urs Niggli, director of FiBL (Research Institute for organic farming), Hans Herren discussed the opportunities and limits of organic and agro-ecological farming and its potential.
Hans Herren was quite explicit: The time for compromises or slow changes were over. To solve the global social and ecological problems and to reach the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) a quick and holistic transformation of our food system is required. Stakeholders who do not see this need, or see it too late, will end up offside.
