„"I was looking for something in the environmental field, and when I saw the advertisement from Biovision, I knew that I would meet especially this holistic approach, taking account of man, animals, plants and the environment."“
Chantal Sierro already had great experience with different cultures and languages at a young age. As a child of parents from the West of Switzerland, she grew up in Oberentfelden and spoke French at home and Swiss German with her friends. Chantal chose her first position not totally without ulterior motive. It was clear to her that she wanted to see more of the world than Aargau and Wallis, so she completed a professional course with Kuoni and worked as a travel advisor. She also backpacked through Europe, Southeast Asia, Africa, Central and South America and the USA. She learned English and Spanish. „Then I needed a new challenge." Chantal embarked on a course in business economics with a major in marketing at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland, which she completed in 1999 with her thesis on Eco-Labels. "Ecology and economics were the two topics which interested me most, and i already knew that I could use this combination in the future." First this freshly-graduated economist used her expertise in this service of Unilever Switzerland, where as brand manager she successfully developed and introduced new products and concepts.
Chantal gave birth to her son, Elia, on the other side of he world in Australia, a fact which fits well with the life philosophy of this global citizen. She lived a total of four years in Sydney, taking care of her family, giving private tuition in German and French and dedicating herself to volunteer work in environmental and animal protection organisations. Back in Switzerland it was time to realise her plan of a job in an NGO. "I was looking for something in the environmental sphere and when I saw the job advertisement from Biovision, I knew that the integrated approach - the care of human, plant, animal and environment would especially appeal to me."
Chantal's experience in the private sector is most welcome in Biovision's fundraising department. She works part time - 60% hours - in order to have enough time for four-year-old Elia. "He brings so much energy into my life, so right now I put my more active hobbies on the backburner. Long trips and trekking holidays also have to wait. But in the interests of balance, yoga and cosy walks in the country are now the order of the day."
